I kept buying my dialup competitors, then my DDL competitors, a few hosting competitors, a few fixed wireless companies, and a VoIP provider. They saw the writing on their walls and I was just operating more efficiently, giving clients what they wanted, which was 24/7 support all based in the US, and doing it for less than or just slightly more than, the big guys. I got lucky with one acquisition and acquired 64,000 IP addresses. Not worth very much at the time, but they provide a nice little lease income with zero effort on my part, so I made it through all of the ups and downs of the biz and am still around to talk about it. Not many of us still in the game that started in 1992/1993 (technically 1995 for the dialup). I should write a book.
