I can literally make the site BE chipboard.com or ccgtcc.com the moment the domain owners change the A record in their DNS. After that, get out the paintbrush, change some logos, add the wordpress frontend, etc.

In other words, no extra work involved at all. The effort the 50 or so people have made to register there won't be lost. Just continued. And they have a low registration number to brag about at some point in the future, just like low-numbered CCA memberships.

And even if a completely different site were to be developed, using different discussion/forum software, all of the userids/passwords are in a standard database and could be moved/migrated to whatever new site is used. Believe it or not, I did try to think of all the contingencies. After all, I do this for a living. But I make my money off the hosting, not the visitors or advertising (nothing wrong with it - just saying I don't have a vested interest in those things). I doubt anyone would need to hold an auction to fund anything I'd be doing for the club.
