I just got off a board of a historical group, and they had the philosophy that the only people that could do anything had to be board members. My argument is that young and working people don't want to commit that much time, but do want to volunteer. Why not delegate out tasks and maybe just have a board member oversee the work? I could see having someone handle social media, a couple of people creating and editing videos, someone reaching out to influencers to attend the convention, maybe another to potential vendors, etc. The jobs may not get done exactly how you would do it if you were doing them, but by delegating, sure you give up a bit of control, but you get more things done and intimately involve members that otherwise might drop out after a year or two.
