It's not necessarily ideal but that's the way it is until someone tries to change it.
I'd like, for example, the option for the remainder of the BoD to temporarily appoint someone to fill a position until any election or other process (which can take time) is complete.
Hard to function with the Treasurer or Membership Officer vacant for any period of time in particular.

I'd also seek, in conjunction with fellow BoD members to undertake some restructuring of the existing appointed volunteer chairs/officers so they don't all report to the President in isolation from each other (MoGH excluded).
That would involve creating opportunities for those wishing to have a greater participation like Oscar or yourself in a formal way. Considerable experience is needed for many of the BoD or Chair positions and this would provide an ideal way for those people to gain that experience.
