Hi Joel. Thanks for jumping in and your points are well taken. I agree that the dues COULD be raised, but it will cause some people to drop out (or not join), so it has to be carefully considered. Also, non-profits are only allowed to hold a certain amount of cash in reserve (I think it’s 3 years), so unless there’s a purpose behind raising the fees, we might run afoul of the IRS. Maybe we need an executive director, which would be a paid position. If that were the case, then certainly an increase in dues to cover wages, office space, etc would make sense. But I don’t know if the organization could come up with a good job description that would do anything but replace our wonderful and greatly appreciated (even if unpaid) volunteers. Anyhow, thanks again for your thoughts. That’s why I started this thread. To see what everyone thinks about what I said and offering their own suggestions/solutions.
