Today we talk about the Sands casino that was located in Las Vegas from 1952 until 1996. The Sands was known was one of the most famous, important and amazing casino resorts that was on the Strip. In the 50s and 60s it was the hotel to be at with performances from Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, and others. If there was one place you were going to see the Rat Pack all the time, it was going to be the Sands. It was featured in the Oceans 11 film in 1960 along with other casinos like the Desert Inn, Riviera, Flamingo and Sahara. The sign outside was so unique and exactly what the stands stood for "A Place in the Sun" was it's original slogan. You were able to gamble outside in the pool if you wanted to play roulette, craps or blackjack in the sun. The Copa Room was famous and known by so many. One of the most famous showrooms in Las Vegas, if not the most famous. The Sands had baccarat with jetons and plaques which many places didn't and on top of that, imagine if Sinatra was your dealer! He loved to deal! This property will forever be in Las Vegas history as one of the most famous and I'm sure it will never be forgotten. It made it's impact that will last a lifetime. Hope you enjoy!
