When someone donates an image to TCG they are giving TCG the right to use it, but we are not giving TCG the rights to our image. In other words, simply, I own my own image, forever. TCG owns the image for their use and the image is protected from being copied and used by others, by way of it being published on the website.
I hope that was clear?
I upload an image, I granted TCG the right to USE it. And after that because they published that on a website, they have a copyright for the website contents.
I still own the rights to my own images. I can use them, sell them, display them, post on boards or eBay and TCG has no say in what I do.
One is not the other and for some reason, some people are trying to say that granting a right to display is the same as giving away all the right to an image. NOT!
Let me use a simple example. I post a photo of myself on this BB (or any other forum), they are allowed to display it, and have now included it as the property of that forum... other people can't copy and it the image. The forum holds the copyright to anything published on it.
All contents on a website become copyrighted the moment they are published. But... I still own the rights to my own image.
