I am probably going to get flamed for this post but I feel people need to be reminded.
It saddens me like it does so many other to see so much controversy and arguments both here on the chipboard and within the club.
But for me the club is mush more than a few people.
I have made hundreds of friends in the club over the years and if it were not for the Club I most likely would never have had the pleasure of becoming friends with people like Greg Susong, Brian Cashman, Eric Rosenblum, Mike Heron, Aaron Peacock, Sheldon Smith and so many others who will remain in my heart as friends forever.
And it’s not just the people who have passed.
Each year I look forward to seeing people like Steve Passalacqua, Steve Bedo, Bud Meyers, Doug Deems, and so, so many others. (My apologies to the many people I have neglected to name)
Friendships that will last forever with some of the greatest people I have ever known.
Without this club those people would have never been part of my life.
I completely understand why people get frustrated and disillusioned with some of the people in the club.
Believe me, in my 20+ years of involvement, I have found my share of people I don’t get along with and I am sure there are plenty that don’t care for me either.
But those people are NOT the club. Nor to they represent the majority of the club.
There are many things the club does I agree with as well as some I don’t.
But, I will never let the action of others dictate my extent of enjoying the club that I have supported over so many years.
Now people will say, the hobby can exist without the club, and they are right.
But what other organization promotes the hobby like the CCA does?
The annual convention, seminars, trade sessions, get togethers, MOGH exhibits and many other events are all meant to increase interest in a hobby we all love.
I for one don’t want to see the hobby I love destroyed or the accomplishments of so many before and after me be for naught.
This hobby was meant to be fun for everyone and I sincerely hope people can remember that.
