And misconceptions about the money spent for a museum consultant.
Being on the MOGH board for quite some time and involved in the concept since almost its inception, I have first hand knowledge of what occurred.
The MOGH was looking for direction and information on a path forward to accomplish our goals.
At the time there was a very real possibility of a location being offered to us but before we could take advantage of that, we needed to be ready.
That means having all our ducks in a row and understanding if we truly were ready to move forward with a “Museum”.
So our current MOGH chairman at the time arranged for a 3 day retreat for all MOGH board members to discuss current issues and learn in order to develop a path forward.
During those 3 full days of meetings the MOGH board discussed many issues and that we would normally do at a board meeting as well as added a workshop with an established museum consultant.
We discussed cash requirements, structure, capitol funding and many other issues.
We actually all left that meeting with a much better understanding of exactly what was necessary but how to achieve those goals.
We also all left that meeting with an action item list and a path forward.
All MOGH board members voted on making this necessary expense and I don’t blame either the MOGH chairman at the time or any of the board members since it was truly something we needed before we jumped into a project without that knowledge.
Unfortunately the week after that workshop, the world was shut down for COVID and obviously all the plans moved to the back burner.
Now I have always been a supporter of the MOGH. I have invested countless hours and funds into this project thru fundraising and doing what I can for it’s success. Same can be said of just about all the other MOGH board members.
I understand that some of the club membership doesn’t support the MOGH dream and to be honest I can understand that. But I would be hard pressed to criticize those that don’t agree with me. It’s everyone’s right to believe what they wish and support what they want to.
Personally I believe the MoGH is the future of the club and our exhibits around town do nothing but promote the hobby by exposing it to others.
I believe having a museum will exponentially exceed that from what we see now with just a few exhibits.
There are many others that feel the same way as I do and to be honest there are others that don’t.
I am not criticizing those that don’t, just asking them to not try and destroy the dreams of others who do.
I refuse to take part in taking sides as I consider myself good friends with ALL parties involved.
BUT I cannot blame Charles or for that matter anyone for the funding used for that consultation as it was desperately needed at that time.
Again just my opinion and I hope others can understand.
