I feel like you guys are purposely teasing me here.
I have been the lone voice, for years, asking for the magazine to have a digital OPTION. The response has always been the same, putting out a digital magazine would (quite literally) be the end of the CCA. Some members said they would quit the club on the spot if they didn't get their mailed magazine. Others said if there was a digital magazine that members wouldn't renew their membership and "share" the magazine with the click of the "Forward" button.
I know the economics don't make sense to cut the production of just a few magazines, but you might be surprised how many members might take this up for a discounts membership cost. And it could be a phased-in process. Have a digital option alongside the printed for a year or two to get people used to it. Then, make a digital option available. If we find the cost of printing that extra magazine, and postage, is $15/year, cut the digital membership down to $20/year. We might be surprised to find more casual collectors at the $20 price point than $35.
Not sure, just spitballing.
p.s. - I'm a little surprised by some of talk above about the complete lack of interest in the CCTN. I was under the impression that the magazine was pretty much the crown jewel on the club. If more people aren't even opening the magazine, maybe it IS time to figure out why we are publishing this fancy glossy work each quarter. Maybe even go to an bi-annual or annual editions?
