If you want to take a short break from the casinos and shops in Central City, head up to Nevadaville which is just outside town. It's a small ghost town with a couple of old buildings and some abandoned mines. As you come down Nevadaville road nearing the Central City parkway, you'll see a large unused parking lot. I believe it was overflow casino parking at one time. If you head into the parking lot near the end you'll find a dirt road that takes you past an old chapel and memorial site that overlooks Central City. Pretty cool views. Is this a must see destination? Probably not. But, a 15 minute diversion if needed. If you don't mind dirt mountain roads, you can follow this road down the hill into town.
