Re: Let's not forget the Riverside, Reno, 1951.

He took up residency for the required six weeks in order to get his divorce from his first wife. My mother and I did the same that Summer. I was 9-years old and even though I knew ot him earlier in NY, I also got to see Ava Gardner at the post office and at mom's lawyer's office, too. He gave me an autographed dollar bill one day as he got out of a taxi at the Riverside when I told him that I knew him and who a certain jazz drummer who he also knew very well was. When my mother came out of the Riverside she told me who she met inside as I flashed the dollar bill. We lived at 555 Imperial Blvd, in a home of a the Smith's family friend. Mom knew all the right girls in town to know and it was a fun Summer and we walked downtown often. Did a lot of sightseeing that summer, too.
