2 of you have emailed me, asking how I got this chip. The story isn't that interesting, really. A person who bought a storage unit for $60 (to get a washer/dryer for her in-laws) about 6 months ago was going through the rest of the stuff that was in there and found some chips in a cigar box with some other crap, did a google search for chip collectors and found me. She paid $60 for the storage unit. She got way more than that from me and is elated with what I paid her, but no, she didn't get a "fair" price (if you mean anything close to book value). No, I'm not ashamed to say I wanted to maximize the value in my favor. Yes, she could have (and would have) accepted much less if I had offered it. I didn't ask, but I suspect (now) that she would have been elated to get face value. Anyway, that's the story. [Addendum: I asked if there was anything else casino-related in the unit, and she's going to check. I told her even things like swizzle sticks, dice, napkins, menus and such are of interest to my collector friends, so you may see more stuff show up in the next few months (maybe).
