Though I would consider that person(s) a casual collecror; the purpose of me mentioning the 10,0O0, is because the post I was referring to on the CCA message board mentioned that approx. 25% of that number is subscribed to the CCA Newsletter which if anyone did the math they should ask themselves how come a portion of the total of that number above CCA membership number are not CCA members as well which, according to the number of members published at Poker Chip Forum are approx. 10,000 members who most everyone would consider the great lengths those folks go through in collectingis is not anywhere near that of a casual collector and far over our club membership number which means we are not attracting thousands of hard core collectors to our club and convention and virtually zero to the CCA message board and, my point for explaining all of this was to back up everything Rich Burgel said in his post on that same message board, clear, plain and simple -- we need more horsepower... and if that isn't enough to grasp on to; look at all the thousands of collectors all over the world who do not even collect American-style, clay composition chips with not even counting in MOP, Ivory or Bone, who have been doing it for well over 150-years to the extent of publishing many books and journals, who are well-organized enough to exhibit and conduct educational programs throughout Europe pertaining to metallic casino chips... and how big is our club.....? How much "horsepower" do we have? Are we even in a forward motion gear... or are we going in REVERSE..???... and, yes; we need a new coachman to drive us FORWARD... and, what do we do to attract those set builders at PCF, one might ask; my first thought considering how much those folks love showing and talking about their sets of chips and explaining the sounds, feel and ease of cutting and stacking by typing and photos... and what better place for them to demonstrate all that by doing it at the CCA CONVENTION by simply inviting some of them to exhibit, show and tell what they so much love doing...?
No rocket ship stuff here other than simple math to see what Rich Burgel brought up in his more horsepower post...!
