Yeah, in the news again. I'll probably never ride this line, but I'd want to?
Older news, just to catch up in one spot.
2018: VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Brightline Trains, the nation’s only privately owned, operated and maintained express intercity passenger rail system, has agreed to buy XpressWest, the high-speed rail project to connect Victorville and Las Vegas.
2021: LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 110-acre (44.5 hectare) property at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip has been purchased to be the site for a terminal station for a planned new high-speed passenger rail line between Las Vegas and Southern California.
Today: That segment of the railway would start in Rancho Cucamonga and run at speeds of up to 180 miles an hour. This would also connect to a previously approved 216-mile portion from California’s Victor Valley to Las Vegas with speeds on that segment up to 200 miles an hour.
Maybe will be running by 2026.
Unlike Xtrain, which was a stock scam as far as I could see it, these people seem serious. Brightline bought XpressWest, bought land for a station, out near McCarren for $140 million, and now they are surveying and have bought some of the route.
