JH, I live near Tulsa and have made several excursions across the state in the last 2 years working on an Oklahoma collection. My advice: start with Chip Guide that has an excellent list of Oklahoma casinos and it notes which ones are slots only. Many have gone to slots only in the past few years. For example, all of the Osage casinos which used to each have their own chips are now slots only except Tulsa. You used to be able to pick up a few of the others in the Tulsa mix, but no more. Stonewolf is also slots only.
Most Indian casinos will not sell chips from the cashier except poker rooms. Call each casino you want to visit and find out their hours for table games. Some are only open on the weekends, and even then many do not open table games until noon, 2pm or 4pm. Your travels are primarily going to be Friday and Saturday, and only late afternoon and evening.
Some of the casinos like Grand in Shawnee have different chips in the poker room than regular table game play. If the casino has a poker room visit the room and check the chips there. Don’t ask the table games people if the poker room has different chips. Most are clueless.
Hard Rock Tulsa just released a new batch of $1 chips this weekend. Not a new design - just new chips. Their chips wear very quickly and poorly, so I picked up about 15 which have never been in play. Will have at the convention if anyone needs an upgrade.
Happy hunting and don’t hesitate to email if you might have Oklahoma chips for sale or trade.
