~~~ the monetary unit (currency) £ symbol, British... while even though we are aware of the £ sign also having "double horizontal bars" on several antique gambling chips (above), Charles called our attention to where it was also used to the right of the denominations on an actual series of casino chips as well.
Though still an unknown chip, we are now pretty sure which £ sign it is; especially since it is very close to the Italian Lira £ and a few more £ signs from other countries.
I would also like to add that even though we know of this design £ sign being on some Bahamian Club chips to the right of the the denomination, and even though the club was in operation during the 1920's when MOP was still widely used in casinos, Internationally, we should not assume this series was used on any game or in any private room of Bahamian Club, Nassau, without positive documentation or seeing any earlier metal or MOP gambling pieces depicting the club name.
