I put the chip in a plastic flip and then inside a coffee cup holder. I fold a piece of paper around it and put it in a small envelope. I go to the counter and say non machinable and I believe it is 71 cents. I make them stamp it Non Machinable and use the sticker from the machine, not stamps.
I've never been turned down doing it that way and I do it for 1 or 2 chips. Somebody who bought 4 chips told me to put them in a big envelope with two stamps. I said fine but I'm not responsible for it. They received it no problem.
I just moved and haven't mailed anything from my new PO. I'm wondering what will happen.
