I found a spare $2.50 chip here and played around with it a little. Yes, "Barona" goes from metallic-maroon color to almost-black when held at an angle and the little circles and squares and sometimes miscellaneous squiggles come and go as the hologram moves around. Don't think it's a new issue, just something that might need explaining on ChipGuide.
