Other than what was made in Paris, the bigger manufacturers who actually cut and shapped (unlike in the UK) also commissioned engravers who never left their homes. Finding and tracing those family names to their towns isn't easy; like trying to locate the families of high-rollers who played casinos in the mid to late-1800's which have been long gone for over a hundred years.
