After having one a few days prior and thinking it was a bit too thin and not juicy enough; I decided to increase the thickness on the machine to punch out a thicker burger.
My job was to keep feeding the machine with plastic bags of ground beef while the machine aligned a waxed paper sheet and then the burger which, I removed after each punch and stacked them on pot metal trays while helping to load the truck(s) during the course of the day that delivered to the different concession stands.
When hired; I had a choice of working an 8-hour shift at one of the concession stands for 90ยข an hour or 8-bours a day at the main commissary for $1 per hour.
A bus would pick us up downtown North Bellmore and transport us to Jones Beach.
It was the Summer of 1958 (16-years old). My first full-time job.
