Today's topic of discussion came from a post by Darryl in the Casino Chip Collectors group on Facebook about a week ago. He was trying to find some information regarding the TR King $1 and $5 casino chips that were manufactured for the El Morocco. He was trying to figure out if they were really from 1964 or that wasn't the correct year since the club would end up closing in 1964. The original El Morocco was open from 1945 until 1955 and then would re-open in 1957 and close again in 1958. The New El Morocco at the same building and same location would open in 1959 and then would close in 1964. This brings up the discussion as the Small Crown $1 and $5 were ordered in 1964 when the New El Morocco was open and the El Morocco was closed. Ron made a good point that the "New" aspect of the El Morocco could have been a re-branding or a new generation in the life of the El Morocco entering a new era. Could be very true and I think he's got the right answer. Interesting topic though considering the chips were ordered in 1964, most likely the early half, since I've seen quite a few of those TRK chips being in used condition and not super minty.
