Yeah. Those clamshell-type shutters were very popular back then.… as were the Bahama shutters (louvered aluminum panels) and in the 1970's these folding accordion shutters became very popular because they would stack in place taking up very little space when open.
My Orchids do well in the wind providing they are hanging bare root as in nature and not in terracotta pots which become flying missiles banging into everything and causing a mess.
This is just a tropical storm but, as I said, it takes very little effort in sliding them closed and pushing a button to lock everything in place.
