~~~ agree with the "samples" scenario (and early) since I have seen King samples with a lone "K" which kind of makes sense... but really doesn't prove anything other than maybe a strong possibility of being samples.

I hope someone has as early Edwards catalog depicting those E chips as samples or something better yet; an attribution.

Sure is a sharp letter E; thin and not overpowering and just enough to get across what it was intended to represent.
