She had cataracts, but was deemed too old for an operation. Her doctor knew she developed a heart problem but did nothing else. She lost at least one tooth (spat it out one day) - after her death, the nurse gave it to me, sort of like a set of deer antlers or similar hunting trophy, saying "Here, you want this?" My uncle was in another home in Massachusetts - they withheld water from him and he died of thirst. And eventually my aunt was in one also, and died of Alzheimer's.
