Chuck,
Funny, my first time in Las Vegas also was as a kid when my parents went to the ASD show (early-nineties). We stayed in the Sands back motel-like rooms. I remember each night after the ASD show tons of people poured through the Sands common areas to get from the convention center back to the strip. They wouldn't let kids under 16 enter the trade show so we had to wait outside the entrance. This was the time period just as the Treasure Island was being built across the street, and Lance Burton was performing at the Hacienda.
