"The Herbst family, operators of the Terrible Herbst gas station chain, has drawn up plans for a five-story, 208-room nongaming hotel and retail and restaurant space, Clark County records indicate. The nearly 44-acre site is just west of I-15 at state Route 161."
Last trip we went there, I think some cars, an "interesting" gift shop, (ring a bell someone would come help you) one of the Batmobile replicas.
I've been through Goodsprings a couple times, never saw a saloon. I was told in the past that most of the residents were guards at the prison. That would be... Southern Nevada Correctional, Jean which now that I look, closed in 2000, opened and, heck if I know what's up now. When I was there in the late 80s, I thought I saw the prison facility down South of Jean. I wish I could find those photos.
Later in life, Valerie and I did oyster shooters upstairs at Buffalo Bill's, and rode the Desperado roller coaster, which at the time was the fastest and highest in the world. The drop from the top of the casino to the desert floor felt like free fall and looked like diving straight down. Pretty good fun. (temporarily closed) ?
Seems like every trip to Las Vegas, Jean is different.
