I know it is a difficult subject with a lot of opinions, I think that you have every right to offer what you feel you want to pay for a chip, even if the consensus may pay more. If she asked you for an appraisal it would be different. Being called out for a lowball offer here is the price you pay for the offer. I don't know how many times I've seen a chip flip on a dealer's table where the dealer was too lazy to change the flip and they added a 0 to an existing price they got the chip for, where you literally see it in a different shade of ink, turning a $10 chip into a $100 chip. You don't hear of anyone calling the ethical chip police on them. I'm more of a fan of a collector getting a chip at an amazing price, as opposed to the biggest pockets adding another win to their bag. Call me a romantic.
