Re: Cowboys & Poker
In Response To: Cowboys & Poker ()

In Faro, cards are pulled face up from a box where the top card is visible. At first the top card is a
discard then the next card pulled is a loser and the remaining card is a winner. If both cards are
the same the house takes half of all bets on that card. This goes on for 25 "turns". The order of
the last three cards can be called for a 4 to 1 payout. Actual odds are 6 to 1. All cards are kept
track of on a casekeeper. Things could get pretty complicated as there are over 130 ways to
place a bet on a Faro layout. The small house PC led to the demise of the game. The Union
Plaza had Faro when I worked there in the 70s and I was offered a chance to deal the game
but declined. (I wish I had).
