Only four casinos are currently permitted in Italy: San Remo,Venice Saint Vincent and Campione d´Italia ( now closed after bankrupcy).
These casinos operate under the scope of an ad hoc regulatory regime dating back to the 1930s and introduced by the Mussolini government, granting them a unique and special status.
But in some beaches and spas there were casinos working illegaly ,surely with the collusion of regional authorities.Sometimes pressures from the central government forced city authorities to act and close casinos.
