THE FEAR OF NATURAL WEATHER DISASTERS IS WHAT ALL HAWAII STATE CITIZENS GROW UP WITH.
AS A CHILD, TSUNAMIS WERE CALLED TIDAL WAVES.
HAWAII ISLAND IS TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON SHIPPING CONTAINERS FOR BRINGING IN ALL OUR PRODUCTS.
I REMEMBER MY PARENTS KEPT IN THE FOOD CABINETS " NO TOUCH SHELVES!"
WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY!
SPAM, VIENNA SAUGAGES, CANNED CORN, CASES OF DRIED SAIMIN AND BAKED BEANS.
THERE WERE NO BOTTLED WATER IN THOSE DAYS.
WE WERE TOLD AND SHOWN TO GET POTS AND FILL M UP IN THE BATH TUBES.
WE HAD CHARCOAL BAGS, OLD NEWSPAPERS, MATCHES & TWO HIBACHIS.
AND A BATTERY AM RADIO FLASHLIGHTS.
SINCEERELY,
QUINTIN KAMM
