Wow Andy, what a thoughtful idea. Thank you for the opportunity.
My names Tom McNeice. I come from Boston and got into chip collecting almost 2.5 years ago when I was looking for a new set for my home game. I initially bought a slugged plastic set and then found my way to PCF where I really discovered the world of chipping. While some members there keep to collecting chip sets, I immediately found myself interested in collecting singles and sample sets.
This search is what initially brought me to the chip board and after getting attuned to its layout, it has connected me with numerous new friends and acquaintances. Talking about collecting with others has proven just as rewarding as finding that next chip. Iโm always fascinated not only with the scope of some of the more veteran members collections but also the stories they have about their own collections, both in the friendships theyโve made and why the collect the particular chips they do.
While I appreciate the historical significance of chips from certain casinos or from movies (ex Rounders) I always find myself being pulled to chips that I find particularly aesthetically pleasing. My personal leanings have been toward Paulson/TRK chips and in particular ones with vibrant colors. Unsurprisingly, my collection includes a number of California, Colorado, Mississippi, Montana and Washington casinos.
Gifted membership or not I do look forward to joining (as Iโve been circling the idea for a few months) and becoming more involved on this site as well as within the chip collecting community.
