Clearly, I think I did... by creating this post to get people to think about how this club presents itself, both directly and indirectly, by leader ship and buy a general membership at large, to potential members as well as newer members. Based on the responses I’m reading, I think it’s making a difference for some, and absolutely no difference to others. I can see a very strong undercurrent of absolute, tall, 100% support for the club, it’s members, and the long-term friendships that it has created and continues to foster. But I also see comments from people who have not joined, or have quit in the past but continue to maintain a presence, albeit from the outside. It is those people that I think the club would do well to receive input from, seek to make the club more enticing to, and thereby increase participation by everyone engaged in the hobby. In my opinion, that is much harder to do when the veneer of the club is negative, contentious and smear-laden.
