the mention of myself, I feel I must remind you of our conversation.
Your question had absolutely nothing to do with the organization of the MOGH, it had to do with MOGH expenditures which I believe I answered accurately.
The MOGH is a committee of the CCA and does have its own board. FUNDS for the organization are held separately as not to be confused with CCA funds
I had intended on the MOGH Chair posting a response for the boards to see, but since you brought it up, here is what transpired.
Here is the question you asked.
There's a feeling among members that too much CCA club money is going over to the Museum of Gaming History; that is, the club apparently is holding its own as to income from memberships and other sources such as auctions at the Convention. However, the Museum seems to be a "bottomless pit" as to its financial needs. As President of the CCA, will you work to limit the amount of money given over to the Museum of Gaming History and what specific figures (a percentage of funds or dollar amount) do you feel is fair to turn over to the Museum?
Here is my Reply
I can certainly ask your question if you like but I actually have an answer for you.
NONE of the clubs money goes to the mogh. All the money used for mogh exhibits comes from a fund that was specifically raised for mogh use and was raised for that purpose.
Now there was a donation from the club to the mogh many years ago (probably 15 or so) of about $25k of memory serves me right. But that was the only money ever that came from the club funds.
The mogh holds its own fundraisers and even has its own membership to pay for expenses like the exhibits.
So I guess I donβt really understand the question as far as bottomless pit since only finds specifically earmarked for the mogh and raised by the mogh are used for mogh expenses.
As far as I know no other club funds have ever been used.
Hope that helps explain some of the costs.
Eric,
The money is accounted for separately and even kept in its own account.
