Jim, I drove my 1956 Chevy conv. for a year, then I went in the Navy, my wife, girl friend then, drove it and the auto trans went up , when I came home from boot camp her brother and I put a trans in the car with a cinder block and 2x12 , lifted up and in. Then when I was stationed on the Air craft carrier, trans started slipping again, when I got back from the Med. cruise, wife and I got married and traded car in for a 1965 Dodge Dart. Hated to get rid of that car, to expensive to put another tran. in, so better to sell, and get something more reliable for the wife to drive. Those were the good ole days, LOL
