Some of those who have toll-free phone numbers and advertise they are buyers have heard the same story repeated over and over with each call...

...and even though the Fence knows there is no way he can walk up to a cage, he'll still walk away making a profit... just like with anything else that's stolen; it has long legs and travels (hand to hand with everyone making a buck).
