I don't think many folks realize that Bill and Effie's was briefly located at Imlay Nev. some 150 miles
east of their Verdi location. Their "history" on the web makes no mention that I can find. The listing
is from the 1960 phone book. I don't know why their number is listed as Mill City, four miles away.
I do think they were actually in Imlay as a friend of mine has an ice scraper with that name.
I used to go to B&E in Verdi in the 60s to play the old slots. Some were reserved for "Truckers Only".
You could reserve them by sticking a cork in the slot that was attached to the machine by a string.
Also a can of beer was a quarter, another incentive.
