I was there.

Still in college in 1969. Step-Father got me 2 tickets from the guy who was GM at one of our local coal mines. I picked up a girl I was dating (Rosie Smith) at midnight. We drove 2 lane highways(no Interstates then), We got there about 5:30 am. In those days traffic was backed up for miles in Indy. Slept in the car till about 8:00 am, then made our way to the Grandstand to watch the pre-race festivities. Had great seats, Great seats at Indy meant we could see most of the straight, turn one and the short shoot. Mario won, we watched the celebration and made it home about 9:00 pm. Long day. Wonder whatever became of Rosie?
