Re: Be careful with RL chip ID
In Response To: Be careful with RL chip ID ()

Jay,

Thanks for responding to my post with that great information.

So it looks like the "R & L" L mold chips posted on the ChipGuide as Bill Ragland and Reno Lanfranco chips, have nothing to do with them, and were instead shipped to Bob Bailey, College Way, Olivehurst CA in 1975.

The "R * L" HHR mold chips posted on the ChipGuide as belonging to Bill Ragland and Reno Lanfranco also appear to be mis-attributed and were sent to the Corner Club in West Pittsburg, CA in 1972

Do you mind if I request corrections on the ChipGuide with that information?

The "R L" L-mold chips attributed to the Reno Club are different in that there is no symbol between the R and L. It's still possible that those are correctly attributed. Have you seen a C. W. Rice order card for those chips?

I also did not know that C. W. Rice sold chips on the HHR mold, as I thought that it was owned by Langworthy during the 1970s and 1980s. That is really interesting.

Do you think it is possible that C. W. Rice used the C-Suits mold? At one point I was thinking that it might have been theirs. The letters in Burt Co. molds often reflect the name of the original owner. The "A-Crest" mold was, from I understand, originally owned by "American Standard" in Washington State, and the "B-Diamond" mold was originally owned by a restaurant supply company called Barmart, also in Washington. The "H-Mold" was originally owned by H. C. Edwards in New York.

On the other hand, there are several other known gambling/chip distributors in California with "Cs" in their name, such as the "California Game Supply Company" and the "California Card Company".
