I remember walking into the Horseshoe one day in the 70s and
asking the bartender (probably the owner who’s name was
Charlie) if he had any old chips. He pulled out several boxes of 25
and 50 cent chips as well as some unmarked fives. To my surprise,
he sold them to me cheap. He said they had dollar chips but didn’t
know what happened to them. I later found a guy in Tonopah who
had a box of them and sold them to me for $20.
