This is the first chip that I have seen using 2.⁵ I wish I can tell you why, what we all know and are familiar with is "$" sign printed on the value chips with "2.50", not comma but period, except in tournament chips which has other markings in them and NCV, No Cash Value, No Value or standardised to use "pink" color for $2,50. You will also notice that some state - like NJ all casinos are practically standardized from the $1.00 to the highest denominations, that the Casino Control Commision agents can identify from watching the cameras in the CCC office - these DGE can easily "control" or count the chips movements with one pit, players movements also can be monitored where and when they moved from table to table or from pit to pit - ie., from craps pit tables to roulette pit tables and so on within one casinos.
Even sample chips before the real chips are manufactured are "notched" and regulated as to how many pieces of samples are move around upstairs in the casino management office.
I am not sure but the "private poker clubs" are also regulated it they will served public games - I think they get approval also.
Home games can use their own denominations.
The chip in question denomination is unique, no idea at all why. The first one I know as I said.
The UK company is I think part of the - Georgia group.
