I agree that at first blush the red looks sun faded (and that, too, may be part of the issue in the overall color production) but I still am cautious about assuming sun fading for these reasons:
(1) There is no discoloration of the white area that is common with exposure to sun
(2) Sun fading would have rendered the N, A and B a light green, not a dark turquoise
(3) The check was purchased from a dealer and CCA member; so sun fading should have been disclosed in the sale if they thought it would in any way affected the desireability of the check (assuming they operate under the CCA Code of Ethics).
