But they have since gotten rid of the Boars and Goats. All islanders were and still are not happy with this. A 308 with a mag round is definitely a good way to go. But I have used 30-30 rifleman style rifle and other smaller rifles needing a head shot to drop them without chasing them till dead.
As far as I know the Spaniards brought both the pigs and goats to the island so they’d reproduce and when visiting again a food source would be plentiful. The Buffalo were brought over for a movie and then left here and still exist in small numbered groups.
I too remember the large Boars at Emerald Bay, just didn’t want to corner one as they were big and had some large tusks.
Deer hunting is still going on on the island, but more restricted by tags and times in certain areas through out the year.
They walk into town and go door to door like eating at a smorgasbord in the summer time due to dry conditions.One of my twin sons moved to Texas recently and would love to go Boar hunting. That would be fun and a good eating Venture for him, I’ll have to check it out and maybe join him.
