Dennis - If that fire spreads as fast as the 3 up in the bay area where I live did I wouldn't wait to pack and go if you are just 3 miles from the evac. line. Unless there is a Big Fire Engine and a crew in front of your house you need the Important things in your vehicles and need to leave. I went through a fire and mountains years ago and almost waited to long to leave.
You can relax and come back when its safe.
