Print and writ with pen and ink are two different things, especially when we are initialing documents; though, as you know, the surname isn't always first from region to region... as are/were personal monograms where the surname initial was central with a three-letter monogram. Thus the problems trying to figure out some monograms with chips... where James Howard Smith's monogram on a chip can have very well been JSH and not JHS. Gets a bit more confusing with French casino monogrammed chips when Department names or Municipality are part of the structure...
