Pete had one skill...playing baseball. His addiction brought him down and he is left to hawk his pictures and autographs as the only way he can see to make a living.
I’m not totally defending him, but he isn’t allowed to do the one thing he ever excelled in doing...baseball, so he is doing what he can do instead. I’m not sure wher you got your “facts”. I seriously doubt he makes a million a year.
I’m one of thousands of guys that say they know Pete and he is not a role model, but his passion for the game and the way he played should be considered by many of today’s “stars” who worry more about little aches and pains and kneeling for our Anthem.
I never thought players should automatically be compelled to be role models anyway. They hit, run, slide and play a game. Anything more is good, but not required.
