The other thing that seems to help is to setup email alerts for all changes or delays. Once setup things seem to start to move again.

I do have one package coming from Russia that was mailed in April and is still "in transit"

My biggest problem is US Customs in NY City where a LOT of packages just seem to disappear and there's no one to contact for help.
