Back in 2007, the issue of slabbing came up, complete with a company prepared to do it. They even produced some samples and handed out for free at the convention that year. The reaction was extremely negative at that time. And in my personal opinion, the arguments against are still as valid today.
Rather than rehash that debate, I suggest you (or anyone) take a look at the "Say No to Slabbing!" link at the very top-right of the ChipBoard banner above. You'll see quite a bit of info there.
The Slab-free "club" isn't active now, just because slabbing was so soundly defeated back then. There's quite a bit of history which many will recall back in 2007.
In spite of what you read there, there's nothing to prevent an individual from trying it. I think it would fail big time. But it is a free country.
In earlier years, it might make a bigger pot-stirring topic, but these days, it doesn't even rise to that level IMO.
