I hope winning the amateur category doesn’t force me up into the pro cat for next time, haha! Let me sandbag just for a little bit, mkay?! I have to say going through the original 20 chips (not knowing that the contest was invalidated/moved) was a big help because I figured out methods that were not productive/efficient and tried to avoid them in the second round. One mistake/strategy I made was that I was entering the CG#s into a numbered list in Word. I am positive my time would have been very close to the top score if I had been entering my chip numbers directly into the contest page answer fields. WHat happened was, when I tried to double-click/copy/paste from Word to the contest fields, it transferred the whole number, starting with “CG”, but the field only allows 6 chars (as Greg pointed out earlier). I ended up doing a CNTL-H (search-replace) in Word to get rid of the “CG” in one fell swoop, then I had to unnumber my list to avoid weird extra characters, which meant I was somewhat blind as to which one I left off at when copy/pasting. So, I’m pretty sure all of that took at least 2 minutes.
Tip for Charles. I’ve mentioned this to you before, I think, but it’s my opinion that all fields that call for a CG# should allow for 8 characters (actually, it should allow any length) and when necessary, the “CG” can be trimmed internally via code, to complete whatever operation is next. The main location for this is the “chip search“, but this contest could/should allow the “CG” and non-CG numbers to be correct/valid. Anyone else want to back me up on this suggestion?
Thanks again, Charles, for putting this on amd for the prize chip. I’ll put it in with my traders and unload it as soon as I can. HAHA! Just kidding.
