A couple months back, I sent out a lot of requests for chips people had that I needed, as well as offers to trade chips people had in their want lists. Got several replies, but certainly less than 50%. Didn’t hear from many. Many said they no longer had the chips I wanted (needed to update their lists). Many no longer needed ones I had for them. Still others said they couldn’t see any chips I had that they wanted.
So, the system isn’t perfect, and of course relies on each member managing their inventory and want lists well. But, I HAVE made several trades with other members (thank you all). I even traded some Nevada chips for a bunch of California chips, which Indont really collect, but made the trade to help out a fellow collector.
I recommend EVERYONE check their spam/junk folders regularly, so you don’t miss out on any messages.
I would also suggest to Chipguide that all trademaker emails be sent FROM chipguide.com, similar to how Craigslist hides the sender and receiver’s email address. This allows us all to whitelist one domain so emails don’t get stuck in spam filters, but make sure sender/receiver are cc’d so they can communicate directly after the initial contact.
